Life Hack: Easy Stir Fry
Here’s the thing about stir fry; it’s extremely easy and fast to make and doesn’t actually cost that much. If you like stir-fries, you might as well learn to make them. They’re so easy!
Things you must own if you like stir-fry:
Sesame seed oil
Soy sauce
Green onions - you can buy a small bunch and put them in a glass of water and they’ll grow for months. Plus they grow really fast!
Garlic - You should always have garlic in the house, regardless of whether or not you like stir-fry. Very versatile.
Sturdy vegetables like; Red/Green/Orange bell pepper, Broccoli, Asparagus, Mushrooms. Don’t use mushy vegetables like tomatoes or starchy vegetables like potatoes.
Chili flakes
Chow mein noodles
Here’s what you do:
Boil the noodles like you would pasta. This part takes 10 minutes.
Heat up some sesame seed oil with a bit of olive oil or any other plain oil you have on high heat. This dish is cooked on high the whole time, just remember to toss or stir often!
Chop up your veggies to similar sizes.
Here’s a twist I like to do as a cheat: Use frozen, breaded shrimp as your meat in the dish. Throw them in the hot oil and fry on both sides for a few minutes until browned and then add in all your veggies.
Add as much or as little chili flakes as you want. I like it spicy so I put in a decent amount.
Add your noodles straight from the pot of water into the pan of cooking veggies after a minute or so.
Add a splash of soy sauce, toss all together for a few minutes. I like to do this for about 3 minutes so the noodles get a little toasted too but you don’t have to.
Taste it and if it needs more salt, add more soy sauce. Otherwise, serve!
Enjoy with a little fresh green onion or cilantro leaves if you have them. If not, it’s good without as well. You can also add sesame seeds if you have those.
This dish is really fast, really easy, and full of veggies! Learn to make it and mix it up with the various vegetable combos out there. Get creative!
